Hello again! A couple weeks ago I talked about how I was “running on E.” I was feeling really overwhelmed with all life was throwing at me and I realized I needed to take better care of myself. It seems like many people can relate to this. We get so used to taking care of everyone else we don’t think about ourselves. But today we are going to be a little selfish, because honestly it is okay to be that way sometimes. We are going to talk about ways to implement self-care into our lives.
So, what does self-care look like to you guys? To me it’s going to get a pedicure, drinking my two cups of coffee in the morning, or just sitting and reading a book. For you it might be working out, going on a walk, talking with a friend over coffee, but even if these aren’t things you would enjoy it is important to find something you like and try to do it as often as you can. I know it’s easier said than done with how busy life can sometimes get, but just like all the people and things we take care of, we are important too and deserve to be taken care of as well.
Another way to indulge in some good self-care is to get a good night’s rest. I know we hear this all the time but sleep truly is so important. If we don’t have energy then we probably aren’t going to be taking care of anything as good as we should be.
Lastly, we need to learn to say no. Having healthy boundaries in all aspects of our lives is necessary and important. It’s okay to not be able to do it all and to ask for help or delegate tasks to other people. We aren’t superheroes, nor do we need to be and always remember “No” is a full sentence.
Until next time,
Morgan
