Celebrating Women's Health

National Women’s Health Month is a time to raise awareness and encourage women to prioritize their health while recognizing the importance of prevention and whole-person wellness. It serves as a reminder that caring for yourself is not selfish, it is essential. Women often spend so much time caring for others that their own health needs are placed on the back burner, making it even more important to intentionally focus on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being at every stage of life.

Understanding key health facts helps women make informed decisions. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in women, yet many underestimate their risk. Women are also more likely to experience anxiety and depression, often influenced by hormonal changes. Conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome can impact metabolism and fertility, while Osteoporosis affects many women later in life, and Breast Cancer remains one of the most common cancers. Despite this, preventive care is often delayed due to busy schedules and competing priorities.

Routine health visits and screenings are essential for early detection and long-term health, including annual wellness exams, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, blood sugar screening, cervical and breast cancer screening, colon cancer screening when appropriate, and bone health evaluation. Preventive care empowers women to stay ahead of potential concerns rather than reacting after symptoms develop. At the same time, a holistic approach recognizes that all aspects of health are connected—nutrition, sleep, hormonal balance, mental and emotional well-being, stress, physical activity, and supportive relationships all play a role. Symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, irregular cycles, sleep disturbances, and burnout are not things to ignore, but signals from the body that deserve attention and care.

Healthy lifestyle habits, such as balanced nutrition, regular movement, quality sleep, stress management, and meaningful
connections, create a strong foundation for wellness. Even small, consistent changes can have a lasting impact.

Health can also be viewed through a lens of faith and purpose.

Caring for your body is a form of stewardship and a way of honoring the life you have been given. In times of stress or uncertainty, faith can offer strength, peace, and hope in the healing process.
